About Pinkathon

The Pinkathon is India’s Biggest Women’s Run, founded by Mr. Milind Soman and Ms. Reema Sanghavi, organised by the United Sisters Foundation and created with the specific purpose of getting more and more women to adopt a fitter lifestyle for themselves and their families, and to highlight the need for increased awareness other issues that put women’s lives at risk. In 2015 more than 66,000 women have participated across 8 cities i.e Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Amdavad,Pune & Mumbai. Pinkathon has raised more than Rs 60 Lacs so far towards treatment of underprivileged women with cancer and has facilitated, through our partners, free breast screenings for thousands of women.

The Pinkathon was developed more as a community project to spread awareness of the importance of an active lifestyle for women and health issues that put women’s lives at risk. At the core of this pan India project is the run in each city, built around which are year round training sessions, free offers of medical check-ups and mammograms for all participants, training workshops and counselling sessions for various marginalised communities and even a symbolic planting of 1000 trees in each city to make a stronger connection between the health of each individual and the health of the environment. Another green initiative is to encourage the participants to make the eco-friendly choice of drinking from a reusable cup rather than a disposable plastic bottle on the route. These initiatives, developed by the United Sisters Foundation, are unique to the Pinkathon and are not practised in any other running event in the country. The inclusive and empowering nature of this project has encouraged an unprecedented response from women across the length and breadth of the country, from Delhi to Chennai and Mumbai to Guwahati. Even though the focus is more on community building, the Pinkathon sets the standard for other running events, whether it is participant feedback, social media activation, community outreach, eco-friendly/green initiatives or professional management.

The Pinkathon has been created to drive awareness on social causes. Even though it is not a fund raiser, all participants are encouraged to raise money through the Pinkathon, which will be donated directly to the Women’s Cancer Initiative in Mumbai, as well as other NGO’s across the country.
