The Ambassadors of Pinkathon are highly motivated individuals who believe strongly in the cause of the Pinkathon and are very passionate about encouraging women to run and be fit. They could be running enthusiasts or even non runners, who understand the importance of women’s health and do everything they can to promote it. They connect with all levels of society and drive participation from every part of the city. Our ambassadors keep the spirit of Pinkathon alive in the city throughout the year by encouraging women to attend training sessions and train for next year’s Pinkathon!

I am delighted with this effort to raise awareness about breast cancer. What Milind, Reema and Deveika are striving to achieve is very noble, and I hope the people of Mumbai support them in full spirit. Breast cancer is a much neglected ailment in India, most women don’t take it as seriously as they should; and events like this will only help making women more aware and alert about this disease.
I think there are a lot of ways in which women can keep fit, running is the most easy most popular and most fuss free. I encourage more & more women to come forward and run. I urge everybody out there to run because running is the simplest way of keeping fit, because all you need is a pair of shoes and the road. Running releases endorphins, and keeps you happy throughout the day and of course is a great stress buster, not to mention its also great for your skin. I started running when I was 15 and haven’t stopped since then!
Well I’m really happy to be flagging off Pinkathon 2012, the first ever one in Mumbai, in India. I think it’s very important for women out there to know about breast cancer and to support the cause and to create the awareness around that if detected early it is curable and there is a life beyond that and that as a woman. I feel proud to be a part of this initiative. I hope to see all you women out there participating on the 16th. I feel these kind of events are really wonderful and do create a lot of awareness. I think people do read news and will watch the Pinkathon happening, so why don’t you all reach out there and participate and also tell your friends and family to do so.
My association with Pinkathon is that we are family, my mother and I. My mother had first educated me about breast cancer and she has done a lot of work to raise awareness for this issue. We’ve gone through the statistics and have known that 40% of the women can be affected by it and that it is easily preventable. And one of the main ways to prevent it is to stay fit and to avoid obesity. That’s what we’re encouraging women to do by taking part in this 10K run namely Pinkathon which is happening on the 16th of December in our very own Mumbai. So run to fight for yourself and don’t forget to get yourself checked for breast cancer at regular intervals.
I support Pinkathon because I think firstly it does something very important which is creates awareness for breast cancer and secondly the Pinkathon is the first women only marathon because what usually happens in marathons is that there are mostly men running which makes a lot of women very uncomfortable and they tend to stay away and not participate in them. I think this is fantastic because it gives a chance for only women to run and it’s a fantastic initiative. I think an initiative like this creates a lot of awareness, because we live in a country where a lot of women don’t even know that a disease like this even exists, and it’s very important to reach out to them and inform them that with regular check-ups it can be detected early and then can be easily cured. It’s very important to have events like Pinkathon which reach out and create awareness for such a cause.
